10 Ways to Eliminate boho farmhouse living room Style into Your Home
Awesome Boho Farmhouse Living Room – Hey hey, very good lookin’! I am quite excited for today’s post because I’m sharing ten ways to acquire boho farmhouse living room style in your house. I had a question recently on my Instagram feed which sparked the idea for this post. Someone commented on a few of my photos and asked what I would suggest for anyone desiring to transition to a farmhouse look. That got my mind racing with a lot of different ideas, so that I put a few notes together and developed a little crash course on how to find the look on your own home!
In my opinion, the farmhouse design doesn’t mean that you live on a farm. However, it does mean you’re decorating and styling your house with a practical and simple mindset which frequently comes with living the country life. Instead of bright and flashy decor, you’re looking for soothing color mixes, natural components, and feel. Remember; these are my personal opinions rather than rules. Farmhouse style is open to interpretation; those are just the common trends I’ve seen in my little farmhouse.

The first step in attaining a boho farmhouse living room look is neutral paint colours. Stay away from dark or bright colors and also try to keep from painting each room a different color. Possessing a light colour on the walls sets the tone to the farmhouse look. And keep the walls all within the exact same color scheme is calming and helps blend everything. I shared lots of great neutral paint, colours ideas and a complete guide .
2. Contain Dimension
One thing you’ll notice about a great deal of farmhouse design houses it that the walls are full of texture and dimension. Many authentic farmhouses were full of genuine, rustic shiplap. Try starting small and think about adding beadboard into the walls in your bathroom, shiplap (or planked walls) in your living room, or perhaps wainscoting on your dining area.

3. Mix Old and New Elements
I’m a huge fan of mixing old, classic items with the brand new and fresh. By way of instance, rather than using a standard vase for your flowers or greenery, try using something sudden and vintage–like this old flour sifter.
4. Avoid Bright Colors
Together with light coloured walls, try to avoid using a lot of bright or crazy colours on your decor if you are seeking to attain a farmhouse look. I know this could ruffle a few feathers, but I believe neutral colors will help make more of a calming and cosy feel in your property. Most of my decor is filled with neutrals–and that I generally avoid using things like orange, red, purple, etc.. But this doesn’t need to be a definite rule. Obviously, you can always blend in pops of color as you desire! I would suggest using those colors sparingly.

5. Use with Wire Baskets
I recently did an entire article devoted to decorating together with wire baskets. I think cable baskets are a simple and easy way to acquire a rustic, farmhouse feel in your home. And there are several possibilities! Try adding a few into the wall, or even employing a large one to keep a few cushions on your living room.
6. Incorporate Wood
Try incorporating wood in various forms into your decor to get a more rustic, farmhouse appearance. Or you could even use old Barnwood to make a farmhouse style hint, like the bakery sign I lately made utilizing salvaged wood from my childhood home.

It is a guaranteed way to change the vibe in any room without a great deal of time or expense. I can not stress this one enough–light fixtures are HUGE, people
8. Paint Old Furniture
In case you have any older furniture that is looking worn outside, consider freshening it up with paint. If you’re new to painting furniture, you will not believe the transformation. Now keep in mindthis does not always work for all, and some furniture is much better left in its natural colour. However, I’ve discovered that maintaining your furniture inside the same colour scheme pulls the entire room together–sort of like having your wall colors match. I painted this old table, along with the transformation was pretty damn awesome.

You know I really like a good bit of furniture that is distressed. And one of my very favourite elements of farmhouse style is the use of old windows and doors. We have some, but this old doorway is probably my favorite–it’s like we brought a bit of a genuine farmhouse into our own home.
10. Leave the Mall
Lastly, I’d say one of the best advice on getting a farmhouse style is to avoid shopping at the mall simply. I understand this one is somewhat controversial. However, hear me out. Rather than shopping at your typical box stores, I would suggest checking out your neighborhood antique shops and thrift stores for unique items which will fill your home with character and charm. Now do not get me wrong, I love Target equally as much as anybody, however, I find my best home decor at unique locations, even auctions and farm sales. To avoid decorating your whole house with mass-produced items, and rather use those shops to help fill in the gaps. If farmhouse style is your target, collect older, vintage pieces with tales, history, and meaning. I guarantee you will love the sensation of heat it adds to your home.
